What is GEM Cyprus?

GEM Cyprus is the official national participation in the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, an international research initiative that examines entrepreneurship through comparable annual data and national reporting.

Its purpose is to provide a clearer understanding of entrepreneurship in Cyprus by tracking how people view entrepreneurship, how many are starting or running businesses, and how experts assess the wider entrepreneurial environment.

2024-2025 Key Findings at a Glance

68.3% of adults in Cyprus personally know an entrepreneur, highlighting the strength of local entrepreneurial networks.

59.9% of adults in Cyprus believe they have the knowledge, skills, and experience to start a business.

24.1% of adults in Cyprus expect to start a business within the next three years, the highest level recorded in the last three years.

8.4% of adults in Cyprus are owner-managers of established businesses, above the European average.

38.3% of early-stage entrepreneurs in Cyprus expect to create six or more jobs within the next five years.

56.9% of early-stage entrepreneurs in Cyprus expect to increase their use of digital technologies to sell products or services.

36.5% of early-stage entrepreneurs in Cyprus consider Artificial Intelligence very important for their business in the next three years.
